2018 CA General Election Voting Guide
Disclaimer and Point of View:
I am a 50 year old, Catholic, white, male living in South Orange County, California.
I like my babies born, my murderers dead, my taxes low, my border fence high, the gate wide but the path to citizenship narrow.
I think the USA is the greatest force for good the world has ever known.
I like my government small, my military big, my country proud, my leaders humble, my speech free and consider those defending it priceless.
I think we have first class politicians and second-class leaders.
I think there is more that unites us than divides us but it doesn’t sell as well.
I think our future is brighter with a strong America in it.
I think every one is entitled to their opinion and mine as a bonus.
To my Republican friends, here is the voting guide you requested.
To my Democrat friends here is the opposition research you dread.
California has a larger economy than Russia. We have the fifth largest economy in the world. In the CNBC ranking of Americas Best States for Business, we are number one in technology and access to capital so then why are we number 25 overall? It is because we are 48th for Cost of Doing Business, we are 49th for Cost of Living, and we are 50th - dead last - for Business Friendliness.
I read that Lieutenant Governor is a holdover from the days when the governor might take the stagecoach out of town and be unreachable. Now it is an opportunity to collect a check and fundraise for your future campaign for governor. The only other position where you could make more and do less is third string quarterback for an NFL team.
If you are of the pour-over coffee, avocado toast, Lime generation then you probably don’t care about Prop 5. If you are old enough to remember percolated coffee, avocado green toasters and Prop 13 then you are very interested in Prop 5. It makes Prop 13 even better - for you.
